FRANCHITTI WINS INDY 500
GABEHART, FAIR JR. RULE TOLEDO TWIN 100s Toledo, OH (5/27) Chris Gabehart and Harold Fair Jr. powered their way to wins in their respective classes at the Marco's Pizza/Atomic Powersports Twin 100's Sunday evening at Toledo Speedway. A fair crowd turned out after a dismal day finally ended in brilliant sunshine as the green flag dropped on the 1st event of the night. Both events ran without major incidents and some great racing as each 100 lap contest was completed in just 50 minutes each. MEMORABLE FIRSTS ON MEMORIAL WEEKEND AT M-40 Jones, MI (5/25) On a cool night celebrating Memorial Weekend it was a memorable night for several here at the M-40 Speedway. It was the 1st ever appearance for the Short Track Truck Series. Therefore, of course, they had a 1st time winner at our track. The Dave's Concrete Late Models had their 4th winner in as many nights while the Ausra Equipment Supply Co. Pro Stocks saw another new face in the Lane Automotive Victory Lane for the 3rd time in their 3rd night of competition! In order those 1st time winners for 2007 at M-40 were Justin Claucherty (Trucks), Bobby Stremme (Late Models), & John Long (Pro Stocks). The Old Hat Brewery & Grill Pure Stocks & the Franger Gas Mini Stocks had the night off but will be in action as part of a big 4-in-1 show Friday June 1 & June 8.FANS COME TO CRYSTAL IN DROVES Crystal, MI (5/26) What was to have been a Memorial Day Weekend duet settled to be a Sunday evening solo when rain hit the Crystal Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon. Despite the setback, the fans turned out in droves as the track held the 1st of its "Yes 2 Kids" nights where kids rode on participating driver's cars before the races and then honored the memory of one its employee who died over the winter season. The 1st annual Janet Zeigler Memorial race paid tribute to a long standing family involvement by the Zeigler family at the track. The family was on hand to distribute beautiful trophies to the feature winners. GREGA CLAIMS DIXIE CUP SERIES WIN Birch Run, MI (5/25) John Grega demonstrated why there's no substitute for experience as he cruised to victory in the opening round of the A+ Supply Dixie Cup Series at Dixie Motor Speedway. Despite not having the car as fast as he usually does, he bested a field of the best outlaw hotshoes in the Midwest.CAR COUNT RISES AT MT. PLEASANT SPEEDWAY Mt. Pleasant, MI (5/25) It was a great night of racing at Mt. Pleasant Speedway. The temperatures and the car count are both rising. It was Spring Championships sponsored by Mt. Pleasant Automotive and Clare Automotive.
