CAR COUNT RISES AT MT. PLEASANT SPEEDWAY Mt. Pleasant, MI (5/25) It was a great night of racing at Mt. Pleasant Speedway. The temperatures and the car count are both rising. It was Spring Championships sponsored by Mt. Pleasant Automotive and Clare Automotive. Fast times were set by late model Matt Saxton, Michigan Modified Rich Robinson Jr., Mini Stock Steve Detwiler and Stock 4 David Mielke. Fast car dash wins went to Brian Nickerson, Lawrence Sprague, Kevin Crawford and Brad Wilson. Alvin Haynes and Joe Pomeroy picked up Late Model heats; David Doty and Kevin Miller took Mod heats; Street heats to Randy Radabaugh, Nathan Murphy and Grant Fritz; Mini Stock 4 heat to Mielke. With trophies going to the top 3, action is always hard and exciting. The Mini Stocks were the 1st to excite the fans. Jeff Fowler was the 1st to take the lead. It looked like he was going to pick up his 1st feature, fighting off Derick Neitling for 15-laps. With only 1 lap to go, Neitling was able to make a pass and pick up the win. The rest of the pack battled hard with mid pack cars coming to the front. It was Nestling's 2nd feature in a row followed by Fowler, Wilson, Detwiler, Gonzalez, Gordon Wallace, Alex Hupert, Trevor Fedewa, Cindy Malcolm, and Steven Thebo. The Stock 4 class is small in number but huge in excitement. It was Dean Rabadeau's 1st night out for the season and he took the early lead. Mechanical problems made him fall to the rear and then pit. Andrew Galgoci took over the lead and was running strong with Cody Bauer and Mielke hot on his tail. Galgoci kept going a little high in the corners; this gave Bauer and Mielke the opening to pass. Mielke worked on Bauer hard but laps ran out. Bauer picked up his 3rd feature of 2007 followed by Mielke, Galgoci, mark Eastman and Rabadeau. The Late Model class is growing along with the great show they are putting on. Chad Bauer one of the top running MI Mod drivers over the past several years, is getting his Late Model dialed in. The draw of fast qualifier put Bauer on the pole. Bauer got the early jump and was able to fight off point's leader, Justin Robinson for 25 laps to pick up his 1st late model feature. Nickerson was 3rd followed by Saxton, Pomeroy, Dick Nieman, Brad Harden, Rich Robinson Sr., Mike Craig and Pat Elert. The street stock class is also picking up car count. Murphy got the early lead and held on for the win. The real battle for position was behind him. Grant Fritz, coming from the 4 Cylinder class last year, is putting on a great show for the fans, in the street class this year. He had to settle for 2nd with laps running out. Chad Spencer was 3rd followed by Brad Metzer, Radabough, Will Stanley, Crawford, Jaramia Richards, Greg De Lisle and Nate Hurley. Radabaugh was the Pepsi Hard Charger advancing the most positions. The first 7 laps of the Michigan Modified feature were led by Robb Stanick. Roy Harvey was tight to his bumper and was able to pass on lap 8. Stanick was able to hold 2nd for about 10 laps but couldn't hold off point's leader Robinson Jr., Robinson Jr., worked on Harvey but time ran out.
